Eight Games Remain in Eagles Playoff Push
Mar 18, 2019
The Colorado Eagles saw their nine-game win streak come to an end on Sunday afternoon with a blowout loss in San Jose. A loss that would of meant a lot more if the Eagles hadn't just come off their longest win streak of the year. The Eagles are currently locked in a three-way tie for second place in the Pacific Division.
The Barracuda, Gulls and Eagles each have 70 points on the season, with the Roadrunners reletively close behind with 61 points in the fifth spot in the division. The Eagles have played the most games in the division at 60, with only four home and four away games remaining in the regular season. The roadrunners have the most games remaining with 12, two of which are a pair of home games against the Eagles. The Barracuda have 11 games remaining, two of which are at the Budweiser Events Center on April 12th & 13th. The Gulls have 10 games remaining in the regular season and saw the Eagles for the final time this season back on March 8th & 9th when the Eagles shutout the Gulls in both games.
The Eagles will start their final eight game push for the playoffs at home against the Central Division opponent the Manitoba Moose. Colorado went 0-2 in Manitoba earlier this season, but hopes that the friendly confines of the Budweiser Events Center will help boost them to a pair of wins. Following this weekend the Eagles will hit the road for two games in Tucson and two games in Chicago.
The Roadrunners and the Eagles have developed a nice rivalry this season as the two teams have played each other more than any other team. Colorado boasts a 3-1 record at Tucson and a 8-2 overall record over the Roadrunners this season with five of the games decided by just a goal. The Chicago Wolves lead the Central Division with 81 points in 63 games and won both previous matches against the Eagles back at the beginning of the season.
The push for the playoffs will be nothing short of an all out battle for the Eagles, needing all eight points at home and strong trips to Tucson & Chicago to solidify their spot in the 2019 Calder Cup Playoffs.
