Eagles Host Stockton in Saturday Matinee
Nov 27, 2021
The Eagles will host the Stockton Heat for a Saturday matinee rematch at the Budweiser Events Center tonight. After falling to the Heat in overtime last night, Colorado will be seeking a bit of revenge.
Friday night’s matchup was a physical one, seeing two big fights. Dalton Smith and Heat forward Alex Gallant dropped gloves at the beginning of an exciting second period. Stockton’s Eetu Tuulola would then drop gloves with Jacob MacDonald after MacDonald laid a big hit on Tuulola that was called for kneeing. The tensions were high between the two teams throughout the entirety of the game, seeing many small scrums. In total, the two teams wracked up 51 minutes of penalty minutes, 24 from Colorado and 26 from Stockton.
Colorado outshot Stockton heavily in the first frame 16 to 5 but would slow down through the final two periods. The Eagles went 0-for-7 on the power play but held on to a 5-for-6 record on the penalty kill last night.
The Eagles captured the lead in the second period after a blue line bomb goal from defenseman Jordan Gross and a solid shot from Cal Burke. The two goals came within a minute of each other. Stockton’s Glenn Gawdin would then tie it up at two less than a minute into the third period. That score would remain through the 60th minute, sending the game to overtime. Jakob Pelletier ended the game in Stockton’s favor, scoring two minutes into the overtime period.
Colorado gained a point in the standings but is still searching for their first win against the Heat this season.
