Eagles Face Canucks for First Time

The Colorado Eagles will face off with the brand new Abbotsford Canucks for the first time ever this weekend.
In Abbotsford’s inaugural AHL season so far, they have amassed 20 wins in 39 games played. They have beaten top of the division teams including the Ontario Reign and the Henderson Silver Knights.
Former Eagle, Sheldon Dries, is their team’s point leader with 41 points. Dries has 24 goals and 17 assists on the year so far. His 41 points are tied with the Eagles' current points leader, Kiefer Sherwood, who has tallied 21 goals and 20 assists so far this season.
The Canucks net has been tended to by a trio of players. Arturs Silovs has played in 10 games and has a record of 3-6-0, Michael DiPietro has played in 17 games and has a record of 6-8-2, and former Eagles goaltender Spencer Martin has played in 12 games and has a record of 9-1-2.

Defensemen Noah Juulsen, Ashton Sautner and Guillaume Brisebois were recently assigned to Abbotsford from the Vancouver Canucks along with center Justin Dowling.

Former Eagles forward and assistant captain Sheldon Dries now plays for the Canucks after spending the last three seasons in Colorado. Dries led the Eagles in goals in the 2019-20 season with 21 goals before the season got cut short.
Canucks goaltender Spencer Martin spent the 2018-19 playing in Colorado, registering the most saves in a single Eagles game at 68, and a team-record 25 save third period. Martin then signed with the Tampa Bay organization and spent two years with the Syracuse Crunch before making the move to Abbotsford.
Forward Brandon Cutler, who started the season at Eagles training camp and playing with the Utah Grizzlies, now plays for the Canucks.
