Avalanche Re-Signs Aamodt

DENVER – The Colorado Avalanche Hockey Club announced today that the team has re-signed defenseman Wyatt Aamodt to a one-year contract for the 2023-24 season.
Aamodt, 25, recorded 18 points (3g/15a) in 52 games for the Colorado Eagles this past season, his first full professional campaign. He was tied for fourth among team defensemen in goals and assists in the regular season, and he appeared in all seven of the Eagles’ Calder Cup Playoff contests, tallying one point (0g/1a). Signed by Colorado as a free agent on April 12, 2022, Aamodt has played in 55 career American Hockey League contests and 16 postseason outings.
Aamodt played four seasons at Minnesota State University, Mankato from 2018-22, totaling 29 points (10g/19a) in 123 career NCAA contests and helping the Mavericks capture the WCHA regular-season championship in three consecutive seasons from 2019-21, the CCHA regular-season title in 2022 and conference tournament championships in 2019 (WCHA) and 2022 (CCHA).
He served as team captain as a senior in 2021-22 and ranked second among team defensemen in goals (6) and first among all Minnesota State skaters in blocked shots (56). The 6-foot, 204-pound blueliner recorded a hat trick in a 7-1 win over Ferris State on Jan. 7, becoming the first Minnesota State defenseman in more than 20 years to score three times in a game. Aamodt finished his senior season with career highs in goals (6), assists (6) and points (12), as the Mavericks advanced to the national championship game.
Prior to college, the Hermantown, Minn., native played 115 career contests in the United States Hockey League with the Chicago Steel and Lincoln Stars, totaling 46 points (5g/41a) from 2016-18.
