Eagles Bubble Blog: The Tour
Aug 18, 2020
From daily COVID tests to golf simulators and soccer, life inside the bubble has been an interesting experience. Team's arrived inside their respective hub cities and entered the NHL bubble on July 26th. From that day until now, the players have had the chance to create a new sense of normality. Game day routines started to unfold, and various off day activities were tried.
The Avalanche being one of the top six teams in the western conference going into the bubble was awarded a hotel option closer to the rink and activities. Each team has its own designated meal and lounge area separate from their floor of the hotel. Lounge areas were designed by the NHL, with recommendations coming from each respective team. In the Avalanche lounge area, the two key elements are the poker table and the ping pong table. “We were excited to see the ping pong table in the bubble… a little competitive edge too to get the boys fired up,” said former Eagles forward Tyson Jost. The lounge area also features some physical recovery tools and televisions. This provides the players an area to watch an upcoming opponent while also addressing some of their physical ailments.
“This is our tanning deck”
Tyson Jost says as he shows off the large deck space the Avalanche are fortunate to have on their hotel floor. The deck overlooks the main entrance outside of Rogers Place, which has been turned into outdoor seating and watch area. The main entrance of Rogers Place includes a massive screen that broadcasts various shows and Stanley Cup Playoff games. “A lot of guys will bring out some yoga mats and head cushions and get the rays to get that summer feeling”
