Rampage Reassign Seven to Colorado Eagles

WINDSOR, Colo. – The Colorado Eagles, proud affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche, have announced that defensemen Gage Ausmus and Gabriel Verpaelst, along with forwards Joey Ratelle, Jake Marchment, Vladislav Lukin and Ben Storm, as well as goaltender Sam Brittain have all been reassigned to the Eagles by the team’s AHL affiliate, the San Antonio Rampage.

Storm was a 6th round draft pick of the Avalanche in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. The 6-foot-7, 220-pound winger played seven games with the Rampage at the conclusion of the 2016-17 season. Prior to making his pro debut, Storm spent four years at St. Cloud State University, tallying 17 points in 121 contests. The 23 year-old served as the Huskies captain during his senior season.

Ausmus also served as a team captain at the NCAA level, helping lead the University of North Dakota during a four-year career in Grand Forks. In his time with the Fighting Hawks, the 5th round pick of the San Jose Sharks generated 29 points in 143 NCAA contests, playing at a combined +35 and capturing a National Championship in 2016.

Ratelle is fresh off a five-year career in the QMJHL, where he posted 113 goals and 95 assists in 285 games with the Drummondville Voltigeurs and Chicoutimi Sagueneens. The 5-foot-10, 180-pound winger notched new career-highs in goals (41), assists (36), points (77) and penalty minutes (113) in 62 games last season with the Voltigeurs and Sagueneens.

Lukin posted 54 goals and 64 assists in 183 contests with the Tri-City Americans of the WHL. The 6-foot-1, 195-pound winger is coming off the most productive season of his major-junior career, in which he notched 26 goals to go along with 32 assists in 63 regular season contests. Lukin has generated at least 20 goals in each of his last two seasons with the Americans.

Marchment was a 6th round selection of the Los Angeles Kings in 2014 after posting 100 points in 168 games with the Erie Otters and Belleville Bulls of the OHL. The 6-foot-3, 205-pound center made his pro debut last season, notching 16 goals and 21 assists in 58 ECHL games with the Allen Americans and Indy Fuel. He also appeared in four AHL contests with the San Jose Barracuda.

Verpaelst has already seen action in 194 ECHL games with Bakersfield, Utah and Norfolk. During that time the 6-foot, 195-pound blueliner collected 16 goals and 47 assists. In addition, the Sherbrooke, Quebec native has also appeared in eight AHL contests with the Stockton Heat during the 2015-16 campaign.

Brittain is a former standout at the University of Denver, where he was named the NCHC Goaltender of the Year and an NCAA (West) First Team All-American during the 2013-14 season. He has gone on to play in 42 AHL games with the Rampage, Portland Pirates and Springfield Thunderbirds. In addition, the 4th round pick of the Florida Panthers in the 2010 NHL Draft has seen action in 63 ECHL contests with the Cincinnati Cyclones and Manchester Monarchs.  In his seven starts with the Rampage in the 2014-15 season, Brittain collected four wins while posting a 1.76 GAA and a .943 save-percentage.
