WINDSOR, Colo. – The Colorado Eagles, proud affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche, have announced Thursday that forwards Michael Joly, Brady Shaw and defenseman Nolan De Jong and have all been assigned to the Eagles by the team’s AHL affiliate, the San Antonio Rampage.
De Jong was a 7th round pick of the Minnesota Wild in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft and spent the past four seasons at the University of Michigan, serving as team captain during his senior year. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound blueliner led all Big Ten defensemen with a plus-minus rating of +22 during his junior season with the Wolverines. De Jong finished his NCAA career with 39 points and a +33 rating in 124 total contests.
Joly compiled a rookie season in 2016-17 that saw the 22 year-old notch 23 goals and 17 assists in just 29 games with the Greenville Swamp Rabbits. In addition, the Gatineau, Quebec native also appeared in 28 AHL contests with the Hartford Wolf Pack, collecting six goals and six assists. In four seasons of play at the major-junior level, Joly registered 128 goals and 108 assists in 219 games with Rimouski Oceanic of the QMJHL. The 5-foot-11, 175-pound winger scored 44 goals and added 30 assists in 64 games during the 2013-14 campaign, while scoring 33 goals in his final season with Rimouski.
Shaw appeared in six games last season with the Rampage after concluding a four-year career at the University of Vermont, where he posted 37 goals and 40 assists in 142 games with the Catamounts. The 24 year-old enjoyed a very productive career at the junior level, notching 71 goals and 68 assists in 113 BCHL games with the Penticton Vees, Coquitlam Express and Surrey Eagles. Shaw helped Surrey capture a 2013 BCHL Championship, amassing 32 goals and 29 assists in just 42 games. It would also lead to his being named to the BCHL All-Star Team that same season. A native of Ottawa, Ontario, Shaw is the son of longtime NHL standout and former Ottawa Senators captain, Brad Shaw.
