LOVELAND, CO. – Eagles forward Alex Belzile netted a pair of goals and added an assist, as the Colorado Eagles defeated the Allen Americans 4-2 in Game Three on Wednesday, giving Colorado a 3-0 lead in the best-of-seven series. Rookie forward Shawn St-Amant chipped in three assists, while Eagles goalie Lukas Hafner claimed his seventh consecutive win in net, stopping 25 of Allen’s 27 shots in the contest. The victory was Colorado’s seventh in a row, tying this year’s club with the 2009 Eagles for the most consecutive playoff wins in team history.

Colorado started the scoring when defenseman Jake Marto collected a pass across the slot on the power play and hammered a slap shot into the back of the net to give the Eagles the 1-0 lead at the 10:00 mark of the first period.

With time ticking down in the opening frame and Allen on a power play of its own, defenseman David Makowski would drive a one-timer from the top of the circle into the back of the net to level the score at 1-1 with just 38 seconds remaining in the first period.

The Eagles would reclaim the lead just 2:38 into the second period when Belzile snagged a drop pass on an odd man rush and snapped it past Allen goaltender Riley Gill to put Colorado on top 2-1.

Allen would strike back just 20 seconds into the third period, as forward Chad Costello popped a loose puck in the crease into the back of the net to tie the game at 2-2.

Colorado would again find a way to jump back on top, as forward Luke Salazar intercepted an errant pass in the low slot and beat Gill on top of the crease to give the Eagles the 3-2 advantage with 7:01 remaining in regulation.

The Americans would pull Gill in favor of the extra attacker with just under 90 seconds to play, but the move would lead to Belzile flinging the puck from his own zone into the empty net with only 38 seconds left to seal the 4-2 victory for Colorado.

The Eagles finished the night going 1-for-4 on the power play, while Allen capitalized on two of their six chances on the man-advantage.
