Series Preview

The Eagles are currently riding a 5-game win streak as they closed out the Wichita Thunder in the First-Round in 6 games, followed by a Second-Round sweep of the Idaho Steelheads.

The Komets traveled to the Budweiser Events Center just one time this season. A fast paced and physical game eventually leading to the Eagles falling short by one. The Komets would strike first in the game as the Eagles played catchup on the scoresheet for the entire game. A tally from Eagles forward Shawn St-Amant coming only 3 minutes apart from a Komets leading goal would be the tying goal and final one from the Eagles. Captain Matt Garbowsky and forward Michael Joly would have the other tallies for the Eagles, Ryan Harrison would also add two assists on the night. Neither the Eagles nor the Komets had their starting netminders in goal for the game.

Fort Wayne has trusted Michael Houser with the lead role in the playoffs so far. Houser maintains a GAA of 2.40 with a .918 save percentage, he has allowed 25 goals in 10 games. After a rocky start for Eagles Joe Cannata in the First Round he has been nothing short of outstanding since entering the game in Game 6 of the First Round to close out the Thunder. After 10 games Cannata maintains a GAA of 2.08 and .924 save percentage, which is closer to his regular season league leading save percentage of .931.

The Komets are led by Shawn Szydlowski, who was voted as the regular season league MVP and has 10 points through 10 playoff games. Gabriel Desjardins has been the other offesnsive powerhouse for the Komets as he leads the league in points with 14 through 10 games played. The Eagles are paced by rookie forward JC Beaudin who leads the league in goals with 8 and ranks 3rd in the league in points with 12. Matt Register has been leading the way quarterbacking the offense from the back end putting out 10 assists in 10 games.
